Because we’ve gotten halfway through the season for Alabama and it is hard to go against any of the numbers that the stat geeks put out there on their level of dominance. The Crimson Tide should be renamed the Crimson Tsunami. They don’t show pity or remorse and are a danger to anyone who happens to get in their way.

The Tigers are a game bunch of scrappers who enter the weekend with a two-game losing streak after starting the season with three straight wins. They played Georgia pretty tough in a 43-29 loss, including holding the Bulldogs’ high-powered offense to just two field goals in the first half. But since then it’s been a train wreck as Georgia found its legs and then Mizzou lost to South Carolina 37-35 to a backup quarterback who threw for 249 yards, was only sacked once and never turned the ball over.

Missouri ended its 2017 season with a 7-6 (4-4 SEC) record and a 33-16 loss to Texas in the Texas Bowl, but it is one of the few teams on UA’s 2018 schedule that returns its head coach (Barry Odom) and quarterback (Drew Lock). In total, the Tigers returned 14 starters from its bowl-eligible team from a season ago, including nine on offense and five on defense.

“I think at the end of the day, it’s about people,” Odom said at SEC Media Days. “You have to surround yourself and be surrounded by great people the. And I made plenty of mistakes, but I have an unbelievable staff that every day of the week they’ve helped our program move in the right direction. It’s the best staff harmony that we’ve had since I’ve been the head coach.

Alabama: Can Alabama’s offense keep up the absurd numbers? Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is averaging 14.8 yards per passing attempt. To put that ridiculous number into more context, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield averaged 11.5 yards per attempt during last year’s Heisman Trophy winning season — and that was a NCAA FBS record. It’s also ahead of Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray,

Missouri: Conversely, can the Tigers do anything to stop Alabama’s offense? Yes, Missouri can play shootout, but not nearly well enough to keep up with Bama at this rate. What’s so dangerous about the Tide is how accurate Tagovailoa is with his ball placement. Even if Mizzou can get pressure on him or defend well, there’s been almost no defense for how well he leads his receivers.
